When your cork stops moving you need to set your hook

This is because J-hooks are generally more versatile and effective in a wider range of fishing situations and for a greater variety of fish species

This helps take away your ability to jerk too quickly and subsequently pull the bait away from a fish before it has the opportunity to get the hooks in its mouth

While many anglers wiser and more experienced than I would probably stone me with lead weights in disagreement, I find that with a baitcaster braided line is easier to untangle and doesnt have the spool memory of monofilament, meaning less backlash

The best flipping hooks have this connection either covered with resin or even welded shut
