In addition to being one of the oldest lettuce varieties, it is also considered by many to be the tastiest. The variety forms small, pleasant, high built heads. The green leaves are self closing, and with a crispy, yellow interior, the variety has a very fresh and crispy taste. The variety is fast growing and has slightly longer shelf life than other varieties.
