With its almost black appearance, reminiscent of teak wood (not sustainable), a new focal point is created. The dark color is created by a heating process in which the wood is heated to 160 220 degrees under exclusion of oxygen. This permanently discolors the wood and it is also not washable as one might think. Despite this, ash is a very hard wood and is otherwise
