Rolex Submariner 16800 Matte Dial with Creamy Patina LEATHER GOODS including the signature Breguet handsThe Rolex Submariner Date was officially introduced in 1969 with the launch of Reference 1680. This milestone marked the first time the Submariner featured a date window and Rolex's signature Cyclops magnifying lens. By the late 1970s, Rolex began transitioning from acrylic crystals to more robust sapphire crystals. These so called "transitional" models bridged the gap between vintage and modern Submariners, combining elements from both generations.
